Brent’s Not Another Drop Vision 2008/9

To create a safer Brent by working with Brent communities to reduce the use, possession and carrying of guns and knives and their role in violent crime.

The following are the strands of the vision and outcomes (the change will come from the projects).

The vision will achieved through:

• Targeted engagement and interventions for young people from 10 years. 

This will be delivered by;

• Targeting key young people in a clear and focused way

• Targeting youth support services/neighbourhood working by Brent Council

• Developing self esteem/personal development  programmes

• Delivering diversionary activities for the target group promoting anti-gun and knife crime message

• Supporting parents and families

• Using good role models

• Enforcement against criminals unwilling to change. 

This will be delivered by;

• Offering exit opportunities to individuals involved in gangs

• Being tough on those that don’t want to change

• Working with Trident and Trafalgar

• Ensuring a joined up enforcement approach

• Ensuring community buy in

• Learning from people involved in gangs – understanding what would have stopped them

• Engaging effectively with Brent communities to ensure a strong partnership approach to reducing the use, possession and carrying of guns and knives. 

• This will be delivered by;
